I believe there were 15000+ empty seats at the SA game last weekend. It doesnt take a genius to work out that kids tickets are too expensive at €30 and that corporate tickets are in the tank.
Its beyond me that these organisations havnt adopted some form of "Ryanair" style pricing with the aim that every major game is full and possibly even a reverse auction at the other end for some of the tickets to take the touts out of the picture.
The last thing I want to see is the new stadium end up in Nama because of poor management that turns the stadium into another white elephant

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

    Who are the IFA?

If you mean FAI then this is the wrong forum but you should research how they are marketing the Sligo/Shamrock game before preaching:

Sorry mods for mentioning the S word

What have the people in charge of football in Northern Ireland got to do with this?

The answer to your thread title is 'Very'

    50'000 seats @ 30 = 1.3 million
    35'000 seats @ 100 = 3.5 million

I too would rather see a full stadium but your thread is a little confusing

i understand your point egan007 but international tickets would never be that cheap.

using the 80 euro a ticket for croker would have gotten 4 million and breaking it into 2 packages of 2 games would have sold out. hindsight is a wonderful thing though.

i think the price of tickets and that awful jersey that was in no way comemerative has put people has created ill will that is not good for any business to have.

i just looked on the irfu website and you can buy 1 of tickets for 50 euro on it. it doesnt mention anything about them being restrictive view either.

  • Also, having a Ryanair style ticket pricing would mean we would need to have names printed on tickets and ID needed on the day.

Difference between a ticket for a game and an airline ticket is that the game ticket is easily transferable.

There is no secondary market for Airline tickets, and as a result, it is easy to operate with the Ryanair model.

Game tickets, on the other hand, will be snapped up by scalpers, and sold on at the "market price" on the day.

I think you're looking at it cleverly, but just not hard enough. The IRFU will find the level that will sell out Aviva, and will make them the most money, soon enough. (I hope).

It's probably around the €65 mark I think
