DG is a posh Civil Service title for a CEO. It will be a case of business as usual for nowl I suspect. They face a tough few years with plummeting revenue in terms of both advertising and licence fees and their wage bill will remain massive. Rationalisation will have to be seriously considered in the coming years. The sensible move would be to sell off RTE 2 TV and 2FM and move the remaining operations out of Donnybrook to a cheaper area and capitalise on the land value in Montrose.

"Mr Curran takes over the position just six months after leaving RTÉ to work in the private sector."

No future direction at all. Where have we heard this before? And who is next to go back?

If he faces reality and prunes the grossly inflated salaries of the so called 'stars' well and good.

RTE to 98% of the country are overpaid.

The other 2% work in RTE
