Dealing With Mercury Toxcity.

Having recently become aware that I may have been exposed to excessive levels of mercury primarily due to aspects of my dental history, it seems appropriate to ask here for some guidance.

My intention is to get tested for mercury toxicity and depending on the results to have it removed by way of chelation.

I am interested to know if there are considerations or protocols in Irish dentistry regarding the testing for MT and indeed the removal of such? and what does this forum recommend for me to do in seeking such treatment.

    Thankyou.

Big_G and flahavaj I thought you might let this slid for a while, I love the posts and "articles" that get quoted in these threads. ;)

:(Ah sure we can all post links from established sources (american ones too)

"Dentists in several large-scale studies performed multiple cognitive tests and, compared to a normal population, lagged behind in many areas. In one study this included 14% worse scores in memory, co-ordination, motor speed and concentration"
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_amalgam_controversy#Autoimmune_disorders

I did'nt post the thread to argue the facts one way or the other. The reason I posted was to make contact with people who are trained and work in Irish dentistry and therefore may have an insight into the removal of mercury by way of chelation.

Anyone with an insight regarding removal of mercury please respond.

    Thank you.

Guess what else affects your memory, co-ordination and concentration?

    Smoking weed.;)

Maybe thats what's affecting your health so badly rather than your fillings actually? There could be any amount of poisons in it after all and its not as if its regulated?

Off topic flahavaj, we can continue that conversation on a "cannabis" thread if you wish.

I have stated the purpose of this thread quite clearly, no need to answer if you don't know about what I am requesting.

    Thank You.

The only way to remove old amalgam fillings is to drill 'em out. Any dentist can do it. you dont need a 'holistic' fella-please dont say you've a med card and expect it all done for free................:o

Why don't you google chelation therapy first before you post, eh? I've already had fillings removed, that is not the issue here.
Have a medical card now however I have always paid for dental treatment in Ireland, the last extraction costing over €400.

    No need to blush.

First off, none of us know anything about chelation therapy because we are dentists and not toxicologists. You may find the answers you require in an occupational health forum or other health science forum, or most likely a non scientific alternative health forum.

You posted a link from a wikipedia page that I used to contribute to until it became clear that I was fighting a losing battle against people who scaremonger and ignore science in order to push a particular agenda. That is one of the most biased and non-evidence based pages on Wikipedia. Why do you think that page was separated from the dental amalgam page?

I don't think you will get the answers you require here. Just a piece of friendly advice.

On the contrary, I have received informative answers here on this thread, not the answers I originally posted for but I have been left with a distinct.... impression;)

I will gladly take you friendly advice and look elsewhere for answers.

    Thank You.

Maybe if you googled chelation you'd know thats not how amalgams are removed!

I'm embarrassed for you by the way. You smoke weed yet you're worried about your fillings...........for christs sake!!!
