Adding New Subject to Degree - Duration

Can't seem to get a straight answer from the Teaching Council so thought I would see if anyone has first-hand information with regards to adding a new subject to an existing B.A Degree for the purpose of teaching.

I know you must amass 54 credits in the new subject, but does this have to be spread out over 3 years?
I know the documentation from the TC says your degree must have been studied over a minimum of 3 years, but seeing as this applies to my existing B.A, I wanted to know if it applies when adding a new subject.

    Any help would be great!

In your case you could argue that taking your new degree subject to final year level satifies the '3 year' requirement. However, many final year modules have as a prerequisite that you have passed a given 1st / 2nd year module so this could extend your studies to nearly 3 years even though 54 credits is a little less that a full academic year

I see what you mean, I figured I might be able to take a 3rd year module in 2nd year to satisfy the 54 credits, but if completion of a 2nd year module is a prerequisite, that idea is out the window!

I'm just confused as to whether the TC mean you must have a degree that you studied for over 3 years to qualify as a teacher (which I would have in my other subjects), or whether they mean each subject must be 3 years in duration

Well not all final year courses require that you have passed a specific lower level module. I suppose science courses would demand it more than say history. So you might get lucky this time
