Does any installer know if this system works with sky (phone connection), 1 person in sky says 1 says no, 1 person in imagine says yes and 1 says no , Sky says wait till installation day ?

the wimax is an external unit , router in house with phone,, I wanted to know if it's a fixed ip address that it uses or not,,Imagine could not answer that either, customer support goes way out here.

I have not installed 1 of these either so i dont know , has anyone else done 1 ?

I'd think the Imagine WiMax (mobile WiMax on wrong band, so not even Broadband) is likely to only work rarely with Sky Modem.

UPC and Digiweb Metro only just manage and they are much higher quality phone service and real broadband.

Digiweb Metro works with Sky box, and Digiweb will normally advise it doesn't with Sky, so as to avoid issues. Imagine are optimistic beyond belief. See http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1147

Fixed or Dynamic IP is irrelevant.

I have it in my place & it works perfectly for Multi-room. For some reason Sky are advising it doesn't work, they did the same with myself but I have multi-room & its great as I dont have to get eircom in

You sure you are wimax and not going through the landline?

How do you know it works? You do realise a default voice codec used for speech may not pass modem signals at all. So being able to makes calls is no proof.

Have you gone into manual do test email to Sky option?

It takes ages for sky to fail multi-room for not phone home.

Also the Imagine Wimax can deteriorate in a week to point where calls don't work and speed is low as users are added.

Quality varies enormously by location. I'd not trust it as a phone service as it's not Broadband.
