I tempted by that all in one snes / megadrive / nes thingy floating around , cant find definite reviews from someone not trying to sell one.

I've found some good reviews on the FC twin and the Retro Duo, seems that the retro duo plays a lot more games and has extra hardware that allows some of the later games to play, I think it was the FX chip

I have uses one of those Retro duos and they are a nice piece of kit, they will play most carts but the controllers are absolute garbage so you'll need to get an official SNES controller or you'll have to smash the console as it will annoy you so much.
I only noticed some glitching out on the odd cart mainly NES carts there does be some glitching around the top of the screen but on the most part it is fine

The best way of playing a Snes game will always be on a real Snes.

Most older consoles (Snes, Megadrive, Saturn, ps1 etc) support RGB. Just get an RGB scart cable for all of them on ebay.

A region adapter will help for some but not for others. Most NTSC games I have work with one. The only one that doesn't so far is Final Fight Guy.

Best option - real snes, RGB cable and HZ/region mod.

RGB cables sometimes need to be modded to work on the SNES but it's the easy mod going. mmmonkey has it on his site.

Rather than going to the trouble of modding an RGB cable, just buy the one that works with a PAL Snes :pac:

I have an FC Twin and highly recommend it. Haven't had any problems playing on it so far but check the Wikipedia page anyway -

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Twin

It mentions that Star Fox and Doom are not compatiable but I have both of those games and they work just fine for me. Super Ghouls N' Ghosts too.

Do the Retro Duo or the FC Twin support PAL and Ntsc or just one or the other?

    Just NTSC.

That looks excellent. Is there much involved in that mod (i.e. would it be a big job for you to do it again :P)?
Maybe stupid question but what about the different shaped US carts, have you modded the cart slot on top or do they fit in?

I bought the FC Twin because I was moving back from Canada and simply didn't have the room in my luggage to bring a Super Nintendo and a NES. Having one system that could do both was the answer. Not everybody can mod their consoles though Enternow :/ I wouldn't have a clue how to open one up.

Yup I can do it agin if you so wish :) The US carts won't physically fit unless you file away the cart slot which I never really do (hate doing that), or you can use a t-piece adapter which you can get online cheap (10 bones or so from Tototek I think).

Either did I until I did it :) Start with the Megadrive 50/60hz & work from there, that's how I started.

This is why every retro gaming forum needs it's very own Enternow :pac:
