I'd be interested to hear from people on this forum how they've interracted with TD's from their constituencies via email or otherwise. Recently I emailed my constituency representatives in Dail Eireann about their feelings on the Postal Services Bill. I was fairly happy with the response that I got from Labour and Fine Gael, my Fianna Fail and Independent TD haven't responded yet.

However, one thing that reeked of pure laziness was the fact that the response I got from the two Fine Gael TD's was exactly the same email. The only difference was the signature and email address at the end of it.

I email TD's once in a while. Understandably those in the opposition reply more so (be it for seeking support in the long run and/or doing their bit for their more local party).

Honestly, and I say this without trying to put them further down, FF members that are emailed rarely reply, if at all.
Same with some of the opposition it has to be said, to be equally fair.

Strangely enough, I emailed a SF TD recently over a very urgent mater and within 24 hours they replied and also someone was at my door to offer assistance within two days!
    They are certainly trying! LOL

(I am NOT a SF supporter by any means)

I emailed my local FG TD and I got a repsonse from the "FG communications dept" in Dublin.
I wasn't too impressed, bit of a fob off. I'll remind him when he knocks on my door.

Emailed Michael Martin a while back about FF's credibility and why nothing has happened as regards the investigation at Anglo.

Received a letter saying, iirc, an investigation was underway. Not much more.

Nothing Michael Martin could do or say about it at the time in fairness, but I made it clear that I wouldn't even consider voting for him in the future unless he went independent.

Had an exchange of increasingly hostile emails with Seamus Brennan (or his assistant) over the use of Shannon Airport before the Gulf War kicked off. His FF colleague Tom Kitt actually went to the trouble of finding out my phone number and rang me. He didn't say much of consequence but I was impressed he made an effort to contact me directly. Olivia Mitchell never even bothered to respond.

I now live in Dublin South West and have contacted all my TD's once about an issue. All replied with very polite and vacuous responses.

I email all the main TD's and some FG, usually complaining if they were serious about winning the next election they need a new front man. I'm happily married but it would be nice to look at someone with a bit of umph.

A long time ago I wrote to a number of TD's about the No. 17 Dublin Bus service. (I know now in my more enlightened self that this was parish pump at its worst.) The only one who bothered to respond was Liz O'Donnell who followed up on the issue.

More recently I contacted Eamonn Ryan with some ideas about mobile phone networks and their sale of handsets. I was proposing that he at least considered putting in a restriction like in France that forces all handsets to be available in an unlocked form. He replied with a long reply but essentially had no interest in what I was saying.
