    Hey,

Anyone else bored to their back teeth with threads on how our country is in the sh*ts and is going to get even worse in the sh*ts.
Does anyone else feel like just closing their eyes and plugging their ears and singing la la la la la la la la la to block it all out.
I have personally stopped reading anything about our economy because...im broke & I dont want to hear about how Im going to be even more broke & Im fairly sick of being broke.
Our government couldnt organise a p*ss up in a brewery.

    End Rant.

Anyone have any good news? Lets hear some good news...like Jedward have lost their voices never to return again and have been attacked by rebel barbers while they slept

Its good that there are these threads. More people coming to the realisation of the trouble we're in. Obviously they need to be taken moderately but they shouldn't be stopped. Lets face it, its important. Funny threads can live along side.

Yeah but in all fairness, is there not enough of it in the news/newspapers & just all around us in general for us to know its there. I left Boards for a long time cause I was fairly peed off reading nothing but doom & gloom.

    HAPPY NEWS....ANYONE???

    Let's see, good news...

Christmas is coming, most people like Christmas. Except those bah humbug, 'Christmas music already?!' types.

There was a thread there a few days ago about how we're still one of the nicest countries to live in, we must be doing something right so, it can't all be bad.

With the being broke thing, at least most of us are in the same boat. We can be poor together :D

There's a lot less boy racers about, can't afford those exhausts anymore.

That's all I can think of for the moment. Also, if anyone takes apart my post with doom and gloom I'll spend the rest of my days developing an anti-thank button with the sole purpose of craftily installing it on boards to sabotage each of your posts.

Pubs are doing more promotions. The quality of homegrown cannabis has improved dramatically this year.

How is it? It's people over-reacting about every little thing. If it was a fact that every person in Ireland was fecked as badly as AH says, then you wouldn't get sitting at home on your fancy dell laptop on your high speed Irish broadband moaning about it on Boards. You'd not have any of that stuff and most likely be out 24/7 trying to get ANY piece of work that you possibly could to keep you off the breadline.

I mean I just don't get the people who are still in steady employment, are manageable paying their mortgages, have a car (or two) in the driveway, have every mod con available to them and will be down the local for the night at the weekend and these are the people that go around moaning about the state of things. Get a clue.

Ah thanks Demi Mysterious Wingspan :D Yeah they looked larger than usual that night....funny walking down O Connell Street later and blokes shouting ''My Jaysus they'd take your eyes out'' & ''Are they real''. The girlsfriend with them were even funnier. Realising that there was no back left on my dress in Eddie Rockets was not so funny though :o

The precise reason I made this thread was to avoid having to listen to people moaning about everything & to hear people that have happy news or have heard some happy news.
I was in a job that my hours/wages were cut to the point I couldnt afford to put a tenners petrol in my car, was called into a meeting to say my hours were being cut down to 15 hours per week. I sent out a few CV's and was called for an interview for one of them the following day. The day after the interview I was told I had the job. I started said job 2 months ago where Im on 40+ hours per work, better wages & I work with the nicest people possible.
I am single but by no means lonely, I have my little boy who I can buy nice things for at Christmas & I have some great friends.
I've had it bad this year but finally things are looking up for me so those with your negative views go and......go moan elsewhere.

I wasn't actually moaning there, I'll record the phone calls, you'll hear moaning from the people who have not been paid.

BTW, I've another hour tagged on to my work tonight so I've a 1/2 day's work 14 days. ;)

You've mentioned your child, maybe make a Happy Christmas thread, since this is now more apparent what you want.

    Happy Christmas.

No, not even remotely. Things are a hell of a lot worse than the media is actually admitting. They are still regurgitating optimistic press releases from vested interests who have been shown time and again to have lied about the sate of the economy in order to further line their own pockets as if they were actual news.

If the media hadn't been such massive cheerleaders for the boom and had consistently told it like it was for the last decade instead of allowing themselves to be used as propaganda for those in power things would never have gotten so bad.

It's sticking fingers in our ears and going lalalalalala which has gotten us in this mess. People did it ever step of the way on the way up and they are doing it every step of the way on the way down. And it only makes things worse. It is foolish and irresponsible and the sooner our population grows up and stops acting so childishly the sooner we have any hope of getting the country out of this mess. I won't hold my breath.

Oh so not wanting to listen to all stuff negative makes me childish!!! I do take things seriously hense working my arse off to pay what debts I built up when things appeared to be going well. My whole point of making this thread as I have stated on more than one occasion is to see things that are POSITIVE in peoples lives as there is enough doom & gloom in the media. AH used to be a place that you could have a bit of a giggle but the amount of threads that are negative is sickening. So many people are depressed at how bad things are. Is it WRONG to want to be happy? Is it wrong to try look at the brights side of life...NO. For your INFO earlier this year I tried to commit suicide over my debts, everything was black. Its taken me a hell of a lot of work for me to start seeing that the glass isnt always half empty. So dont come on here giving the whole ''if people werent so childish'' talk. Just cause the fat cats have made a b*lls of this country doesnt mean that we all have to go around with a negative outlook.

I stopped watching and listening to the news years ago, and I only read papers selectively now. Life is much better this way.

I adopt a similar approach to forums. The negative threads are generally easy to spot.

Then make a Happy Christmas thread and do not reference it to the recession.

OK? Just make a bleedin' happy thread.

Well welcome, Im an old timer but have been away for a while due to the content becoming repetitive and depressing. There are political forums for more serious discussions but Im finding that the even jokey/happy threads are being destroyed by PC heads.

I'm very sorry that things got so bleak for you and glad that you are feeling better now. However your situation just backs up what I'm saying. Looking at the brightside of life is great but not if it's at the expense of good sense. If you had paid just a little more attention to the real state of the country when we were this supposedly extremely wealthy country - we weren't, people were just loaded up on debt - then you would never have gotten into such a rotten position in the first place.

The "fat cats" would never have been able to make a balls of the country if people hadn't been too busy pretending things were awesome. And I have news for you, they are still doing all they can to line their pockets while they have the chance and making things worse than they need to be, even today. Going lalalalalala just allows them to keep doing that. This recession has barely begun, most people haven't even begun to feel the financial suffering which is to come.
