I had friends who worked there and it was a case we need you Morocco tomorrow or Rwanda on Friday or Dubai on Thursday.

Might be great at the start but they ended up hating it cause it was hard to make any plans in the future.

If you don't mind that kind of lifestyle fireaway.

It might not be as bad for you as it was for them.

For a young graduate with little or no ties to Ireland I think it would be a great opportunity but travelling is not for everyone. Rolling back the clock I wouldn't have minded this at all. I work for Ericsson but not in a role that requires a great deal of travel.

    Good job but....

How can Graduates have that much relevant experience?

I'm not a grad, and won't be applying to this job, as it's not my field, but I often see ads that are like this. The company doesn't seem to be looking for actual, fresh out of college grads, more like people with a couple of years experience. I always think it's a bit unfair on grads.

Just my 2 cents, but thanks for posting the ad anyway!

In general, graduate positions will stipulate that they are open to people with up to two years' experience or similar.

I would never read too much into, when I was fresh out of college I applied for jobs with up 2 years experience as a requirement and almost always got an interview.

Employers put in what they would really like but in reality just because you do not match 100% of the requirements does not mean you will not be invited for interview.

They probably are looking for candidates with 80% of the requirements...

Does anybody know what sort of work is done at the operation in Dublin versus what's done in Athlone?

Athlone is software design/test campus. Dublin tends to be more supporting customers we have in Ireland. Onsite work, marketing etc.

Athlone is probably the largest site in Ireland now or at least close...

You would be working about 80-90% in africa, it would be good experience for you to do, but yeah after a while you probably would wish you could stay at home. I used to work for them (not in Ireland though).

There is no work in Ireland for Ericsson apart from their Software Product Development Unit in Athlone, so most of your work would be based abroad.

Honestly though, the way I see it though is that they are looking for cheap labour to send off to do pretty boring integration work and see what happens after 12 months. In the current market it's probably worth doing it if you really want to get into telecoms, but in all honesty there is not much work out there for someone with up to 3 years experience. They use cheap engineers from hungary on a lot of projects.

The most important thing though is IP experience, if you have it or not, you could definetly get some good training from them
