Breakdowns abandoned on the roadside

Is this the new thing now, when you break down on the road, you just put your hazard lights on and sit there blocking the road till help arrives?

It doesn't matter if it is a bus lane, a box junction, half way round a roundabout, blocking a traffic light, blocking half a jam packed busy road in the evening rush hour, you just stop where you are, switch on hazard lights, and then hunch down as low as you can in the driving seat, hoping nobody will notice you are sitting there?

Whatever happened to the old fashioned idea of pushing a car off the road, out of the way? Cars are not that heavy. I see it everywhere, cars abandoned in ludicrous places, usually with a nice bit of hard shoulder or a parking area close by. Surely somebody who causes a half an hour tail back on a busy rush hour road should be fined heavily, if that is the only way to get through to them?

    Late for work thismornin paddy??:D

Ah i no what ya mean but if your on your own it could be difficult to move yourself unless someone pulls over to help. I dont think ya could fine someone for breakin down thoug in fairness but i agree it can be frustrating sometimes

If I was to breakdown in the middle of the city Id have some time trying to push my car to a more convenient location. If I was a woman Id imagine it would be a nearly impossible task. If its raining then the chances of finding someone willing to help you would be slim at best.

Its a pain in the backside but I dont think its something you can fine someone for...

Sure just drive up behind them and give them a push to the side of the road.
    They'll thank you later :D

I've seen it before alright, I think the traffic watch system must pick up on them and send a tow truck to get them moved if they are stopped in a really bad place.

As for helping push a car out of the way, I've done it as I know it can be a pain to have a breakdown in traffic and have everyone look at you as if you caused all the misery in the world

I broke down before and all the guy behind would do was blow his horn and and wave his arms at me. Naturally i did the responsible thing and ****ed him off then stood in front of his car when he tried to pull off further delaying him.

*mature I know but I wasn't in the mood for him at the time, as in, I'm not pushing the ****ing car to save petrol:rolleyes:
