Import Business,sales partner required

Hi all
I run an import business which imports goods from all over the middle and far east.
I have run this alongside a family business for some years now,but I am going to discontinue the family Business in the new year.
I am going to concentrate fully on the import/sales business.
What I need is someone who is experienced in sales or has access to sales channells which would be of benifet to my business.
(Example 1)I import one machine for €1500 inc vat and sell it for €3750 plus vat.
I sold 17 of these last year as a side line.
(example 2) I sell a sports item which I buy for €22 and sell it for €70.
I sold 550 of these.
I am looking for some help and possibly a business partner to exploit my business which was very profitable as a side line so should be a very good full time business.

You are being very vague with details.

What sort of commitment are you looking for?
Are you sure your not just looking for a good sales person?
Where are you based?
What is the main focus of the business?
Are you just looking to purchase contacts, or will there payment for this?
What sort of markets are you selling to? New markets and products, or cheaper products to an existing market?

You should be able to get some better feedback with some more detail.

Thanks for the reply...commitment wise I am looking for some one who will dig in and take this as their business.
Sales people are always required but I work better with ones with a vested interest.I am based south of Portlaoise.
My business focus is very diverse as I can source any product but I concentrate on catering equipment, and sports equipment for clubs.
Am I looking to purchase contacts?? no....I buy and I want someone to sell...and finally cheaper products to an existing market..
I hope I am clear any more questions just fire...

You say that you are working at it part time? How many hours per week is that?

What are you forecasts based on this other person coming on board?

You say you want someone with a vested interest. Well to me that sounds like you want an investor, as unless you have money tied up in a business you are only staff. So do you want this person to put up some money?

You mention that your business focus is diverse, is this intentional, do you have lots of experience in these markets? Or was it a case that you saw somthing you thought you could make a margin on and decided to import it?

Depending on the types of products you are selling, you may have flooded your local market. If you are selling plates and footballs for example, well plates are broken every day, and footballs are burst and go missing. Are the products that you are selling now likely to be purchased by your customers again in the near future? Judging by the prices you quoted in the original post, I am guessing not.

So in that case you will need someone, who is living far enough away that they can try develop their own market, without trying to double sell to existing customers. Yet close enough that they can get stock when and where they need it.

Also, another point to consider is the support facilitites you have available to your customers. If a product breaks do you have the facilities to be there within 24 hours to fix/replace it? Does the manufactures offer warranties on their products?

Again, these are only some of the basic questions people will want to know before they make any decision either way. Especially if you are looking for them to have a vested interest.
