That’s a great offer, no doubt about it. Balcarrick is a step above the likes of Hollystown, Elmgreen, Sillogue, Turvey and probably close neighbour Donabate.

However an offer like this out won’t exactly entice people to join, i.e. if they can play for €5 on deals like this along with a €10 deal going on the clubs website, many would wonder what’s the point in forking out the €1,300 odd to join the place when you got lads out there paying €5 a round!

I don’t want to be overly critical of a deal like this because I do think its great but feel the normal members will suffer somewhat by not having the same amount of time to play casual golf, which to me is one of the main points in joining a club in the first place, getting out for 5 or 6 holes in the spring/summer evenings. So annoying if the place is hopping mad on the 1st tee.

You do get a lot of people who are creatures of habit and don't like to stray too far away though. For a €5 many will give this a go and probably return to play again at full price. Many will also buy a cup of tea, a can of drink, a bar of chocolate... so it brings other revenue in.

It might not work and may annoy the members but at least they are having a go at trying something different to bring funds in to the club. :D

I've never played it, but will probably give it a go at this price.

Maybe i'm missing it, but is there any hard and fast rules on that site as to when the vouchers can and cannot be used? From what i can make out, you buy the vouchers and then find out later the terms and conditions?
