Computer trying to "enter power save" during startup: Vista x64

    Dell T3400. Vista x64

    Just this moring when booting up my computer screen started flickering (slowly) between the User/Password screen appearing and the "Entering Power Save" mode.

    Eventually, without me doing anything, the startup screen won out and I was able to log in.

    It seems fine now.

    Any idea what might be wrong during boot up?

    This has never happened before.

    Not sure. I know that if I tell my laptop to shut down and close the lid that sometimes it will cause it to sleep/hibernate, and that will run before the shutdown command has an opportunity to finish. The result is sometimes i'll wake my laptop only to find it in the middle of last night's shutdown.
