Cumann Gaeilge ag reáchtáil Uimh Lá Béarla Dé Máirt seo in OL, Más mian leat páirt a ghlacadh glaoch. Tá an Idea is é sin le haghaidh aon rud a ba mhaith leat a rá i mBéarla, Úsáid na Gaeilge Ina áit sin.
Go n-áirítear ag caint le do cairde, sa Siopa, freagairt ceisteanna ó do leachtóirí, Tá se cosuil le ocrais 24 uair an chloig, ach amháin nach bhfuil aon Béarla seachas aon bhia.

Cumann Gaeilge is holding a Lá Gan Beárla (No English Day) this Tuesday in UL, If you want to take part feel free. The Idea is that for anything you would say in English, Use Irish Instead. That includes talking to your freinds, In the Shop, Answering questions from your Lecturers.
Its like a 24 hour Fast, except there is no English instead of no food.

Ar ndóigh, is féidir leat a bheith páirteach, an chuid is mó dár mbaill ag foghlaimeoirí. Mé féin san áireamh.
Cumann na dáileoige nó nach bhfuil ranganna ar fáil go fóill, ach mura bhfuil éileamh orthu cuirfimid ar fáil dóibh tar éis na Nollag.
Of course you can join, Most of our members are learners. Myself included.
The Cumann Dosent provide classes yet but if there is demand for them we will provide them after Christmas.

An bealach is fearr le teanga a fhoghlaim I mo thuairim, trí úsáid a bhaint, Má thagann tú síos ar ár Ciorcal Comhrá (Conversation Group) ar an gCéadaoin a bheidh tú ag iontais ort go tapa tú ag piocadh suas an teanga.
The best way to learn a language I find is through use, If you come down to our Ciorcal Comhrá(Conversation Group) on Wednesdays you will be supprised how quickly you pick up the language.

Beidh muid ag cruinniú an lae inniu ag 7:00 in B1005, Tar agus féach cad atá againn faoi má tá suim agat.
We will be having a meeting Today at 7pm in B1005, Come along and see what we are about if you are interested.

We are planning on having a week of events around UL for Seachtain na Gaeilge, Seachtain Na Gaeilge should be running from Monday 7th March - Tuesday 15th March(We May need to change the dates, but that is the plan for now)
This is a provisional list of events, to give an Idea of what we are planning, We are still waiting for permission for some of these events.

    1) Turning the SU into a gaelthacht for the week.

We will be putting up sign at every entrance to the SU complex saying 'Gaelthacht na Mic Lein'
We would like to get all the businesses etc operating in the SU to use Irish as must as possible with their customers. Greetings in Irish, Fáilte, Conas atá tú, etc and Slán when they leave.

Cumann Gaelach Will also have a stand up in The SU court yard for a few hours each day(during and after events) for people who want to Join the Cumann.

    2) Gaeilge Arch,

We have run an event like this already and it went well, the idea is to take over one of the arches leading into the SU, Then ask people passing by to say something as gaeilge, those that do get an I <3 Gaeilge sticker.
For Seachtain na Gaeilge we are hoping to Expand it and hold it in several locations throughout a Day, Such as the SU arches, The entrance to the main building and on the living bridge.

    3)Ceilí Mór.

Hold a Ceilí on the SU courtyard. We are hoping to get Trad Soc to play the music for it, and we are also hoping to get some of the other socs such as Dance, Drama and International to take part in it.

4)An Teifeach Gaelach / Fugitive Gaelach.

We are planning on having two fugitives:

An Teifeach Bréige. / The fake Fugitive
An Teifeach Fior. / The Real Fugitive.

There will be a big prize for the person who finds the Teifeach Fior(True Fugitive) And a small prize for the person who finds the Teifeach Bréige. We give out two sets of clues for the fugitives, people taking part wont be told which set is for the true fugitive.

    5) Lá Balún / Balloon day

A day of balloon activities. Such as:

-Balloon Stomp, Each participant has a balloon tied to each leg, they have to try to pop everyone elses balloons, The last person with a balloon wins.
-Balloon Blast, Couple of hundred balloons are blown up, a ticket is put in 5, Participants have to pop the balloons to find the tickets.
-Balloon Pop Balloons are hung up, One has a ticket inside, people pay to pop one balloon to try to get the prise.

-Balloon Release, 1000 balloons are filled with helium and put in a release net, They are then all released together. This is not definite yet as we may need permission from the Irish Aviation authority for this.

    6) Debate on Irish

We will be holding a debate on the Irish language, We are going to be asking Deb U to help organize this with us.

    7) Scóráil Sciobtha / Speed Dating

We will be running a Speed dating event in Scholars after one of the bigger events.

    8) Lá Gan Béarla / No English Day.

Everyone taking part only speaks Irish for the day. With their friends, in shops and in their lectures etc.

    9) Gaelscoil Lá Oiscailt. / Open day for Gaelscoils.

We are hoping to hold an Open Day as gaeilge for Gaelscoils. We will be getting Aonad na gaeilge involved in this to help us organize it.

    10) Lá Gearscannan. / Short Filim day.

We show films on a screen in the SU court yard for a day,
There is a DVD with short films in Irish, They include films like Yu Ming is Anim Dom, Lipservice, Clare sa Speir. etc
We also want to get some cartoons like South Park as gaeilge.

    11) Ciorcal Comhrá

This will be held in Scholars on the Wednesday evening, It is a chance for people to come and use whatever Irish they have, We will also be playing some games like Scrabble As Gaeilge, Cards, Jenga As gaeilge etc. with prizes for the winners.

    12) Fireworks.

This could turn Seachtain na Gaeilge from a good Event into an epic event.
We are still waiting for permission from buildings for this, If we get permission for this then we will be having it on the last night of Seachtain na gaeilge.

If you have any Ideas for Other events we could run during Seachtain na gaeilge then please let us know.
