    Hi geeks,

I need help. I am trying to reinstall windows 7 on a netbook and I was trying to make a bootable USB stick and copy the windows iso. I was following instructions on YouTube when I had to use diskpart and then format the drive. All was going well until halfway through the format i got an error cannot format drive l: I've tried everything in diskmanager but no joy. I know this has probably been posted before but I've googled it and I keep getting the same answers but nothing works. Thanks in advance.

Random guess: was the USB key bought from a "less than reputable" seller, or is it non-branded? Frequently, such drives make themselves appear to be 8GB when in fact they are only, for example 2GB. Once your format passes the mark of the real capacity of the drive, it may fail.

It's a 4GB scandisk stick. I have it about 6 months with no problems. Like I said I was following a tutorial on YouTube and used the diskpart command and then format. It got to 53% and failed. Weird!
