coat on mare while still feeding foal

    Hello everyone, is it ok to put a winter coat on the mare while she is still feeding the foal?.....Will the foal still be able to feed ok?

    Yes that is probably the proper name, its a cover that hooks underneath - like a jackets for an animal????

    That's a rug, alright. As the surgingles tie near the front end, you should be fine, there are some rugs with leg straps further back that might make things difficult.

    Try to use a rug with a tail strap as opposed to leg straps. Also, check them regularly, just in case. Accidents do happen.
