HID not lighting

    Hi,

I have a set of HIDs from hids4u.co.uk running in my starlet. Very happy with them so far. They're in less than 1 year.

Recently one of the sides may not light up on initial firing. But, if I fire the main beams or turn them off and on again both sides will light no problem.

It's only one side thats a problem.

I've recently tidied up the wiring and stashed it in a large junction box on either side. Wondering if the proximity of the wiring inside the box could be an issue. There are no exposed areas of wiring however.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

H4 bulb? I'd say just replace it.

yah H4. It hs some sort of solenoid in it which me be problematic. I'll see if it gets worse I suppose then consider replacing. Don't like replacing stuff that still has some life left especially when I'm not sure that it's a problem.

    Cheers for responding.

I'm guessing its the ballast that's at fault. SWap left and right bulbs but leave ballasts in place. If problem continues on same side them you can assume you need a new ballast

I'd concur with the post above. Sounds like ht coil in the ballast failing. If you're anywhere near me i've a few spare ballasts knocking about the shed.
