    hi guys,

Im currently appyling for the student assistant funding through my college and its very new to me, Ive just heard about it recently and I dont know anyone availing of the scheme.
My dad is on social welfare as a result of being let go, and my VEC grant is a measly 370(approx) per month.
just wanted to hear from those that have been succesfull in application. Is is exceptionally difficult to obtain? and any info on payment amounts/dates?? also does the scheme give payment backdate to the beginning of the acedemic year?

thanks so much for comments in advance

    It depends on the institution.

The example I'm familiar with is UL.

The deadline passed 4 weeks ago and due to extreme demand the amounts available are likely to be in the €150/€300 mark.

That's a one off payment. It isn't much, but other institutions operate differently so check it out with your SU.

I wouldn't be giving out about this, I only get €150 a month plus I'm out of work and in the same situation with my mother.
