    hi folks,
i need to remove the tap from the sink. i have removed the connection to the pipes, i just dont know how to tackle what i think is the C clamp on the under side of the sink?
How can i remove this clamp properly and what tool should i be using?
can it be done with a stand pliers or vice grips?

Use what ever fits in there, its a threaded rod so the nut might loosen or the rod might loosen from the body of the tap while the nut my stay seized.

Once its out you can fix it all up before putting it back together.

Its a bitch and further complicated by the fact that they know longer put a flat head grove on the nut to allow you use a screwdriver.

Sometimes the threaded tail is long enough to grip with a vicegrips. This will actually turn anticlockwise and come off. The nuts will stay on the threaded bar so you can tighten it all again when your putting it back. Just let the nuts back a bit towards the vice grips so you can tighten it more...

    Does this make sense...

    monobloc sink mixer spanner

should fit most nuts and one part fits inside the other to make it like an extension piece so loads of room to turn it

hi folks, thanks for the help here. as it turns out my only hope would be the monobloc spanner as pointed out! there 12 quid in my local hardware store! robbin bast%%ds!!!
The vice grips was not an option as the area around the nut is too small.
    thanks again for the help.
