What's the procedure to go about tracking them down? VEC are adament that they were sent back but I've never received them. Who's ultimately responsible or am I down 1 birth cert and a few other irreplaceable documents. Any suggestions welcomed, thanks.

i would have thought they would be sent back to you be registered post concidering the importance of the documents.

I would call them and ask if they were.
if they were, then they can use the track and trace number to locate them.

if not, then i would be asking why the hell not as they are irreplaceable and very important to you.

It was sent back via normal post I'm afraid. Was told to call sorting office, sorting office can't do anything without tracking number so off to file missing post form. Really irresponsible from vec if all returns are by normal mail. Does this qualify as a breach of the data protection act?

cant see how they have breached the data protection act. you would have to prove they have shared the information with someone...maybe an post delivered then to house number 12 instead of 21 for example and the people down there have not bothered to return to sender...maybe the vec have them on file still ..from my experience big offices misplace documents from time to time......its just human error....

its 5.50 to send a registered letter.......i think if that documents are that important a person should be going in to collect them.
