Just be careful on it, especially the section towards Newry that cars use. I was it on during the Summer and got ran off it by a small Van driver who then reversed right up to my rear wheel and kept following me. I pulled over and he got out and challenged me and nearly ended up in a fight.

I know just stick to the main Armagh/Newry road - much safer imo.

emm sorry to hear that, we did meet two cars on it one slow down but the other bozo never slowed down and its narrow ,but theres always one as the man said.
mind you there was a hell of a lot of cyclists on it so it is well used.

Yeah it is well used. See plenty of cyclists, runners and people walking the dog which of course is great. Also used for the Maracycle this year was great craic talking to some of the lads on it.

is there another cycle path from portadown to belfast.

From memory no. You can get from Newry to Portadown and from Lisburn to Belfast via the cycle path. Portadown and Lisburn aren't linked.

I was there last Sunday. Went from Portadown to Poyntzpass and back. At this time of year, it is covered in wet leaves in many places right across the width of the track and is thus very slippy, especially if you are on a road back. That said, it is a fantastic facility and I imagine at just about any other time of the year it would be great. The surface is pretty good, with the exception of the last couple of miles into Portadown.

That said, from what I've heard, the section into Newry isn't the safest in the world. I've never been down that far but apparently it isn't great, quite narrow and busy. It looks that from the train.

the section your talking about into newry is fine, i guess with the leaves covering the track you just have to be that bit more careful.;)
