Whenever I plug in a USB memory stick or FAT32 external HDD it shows up as a desktop icon, opens in a window and I can access the files therein.
I cannot copy to it, or delete any files, telling me access denied.
What gets me is the fact that sometimes it works and insted of USB0 it will say "Kingston" for the memory stick or whatever name on the USB drive.
    Any ideas?
    Of course:
    Linux Debian, gnome desktop 2.26.1

Does the partition have a label when you see USB0?

Maybe someone using your choice of distro and DE will happen by ......
