Garage Build Advice

    Hi,

I would like to build a new garage about 40'x50' and around 10' high.

I won't be doing any serious work in there, I just want somewhere dry and most importantly condensation free.

I suppose the options are a raft with a normal block/cavity/block construction with a insulated metal roof (budget won't stretch to a normal slate/tile roof), or some sort of American style timber frame job.

So, what is the most cost effective method that will give me a condensation free garage?

    Thanks,

40mm insulated cladded roof panels can be very expensive and ramp up the buld cost very fast.

A layer of breathable roof membrane underneath and tile effect roof cladding on top.

No problems with condensations and completely water tight.Oh and cheap too.;)

If it doesn't have to be new you could check out some of the sales web sites or the weekly sales rags to take down and re-use an existing steel framed shed.

I know of one 14.5m x 9.2m x 3.6m high steel frame shed being sold for €9,000 including a double skinned roof and a 3m x 3m electric roller door and PVC walk through door. Bargains like this don't hang around but they are out there.
