    Hi,

Just wondering if I could get a few peoples' opinions on this.

I've been offered two jobs (I'm not boasting, and I don't mean to offend anyone who is unemployed) one in Dublin, the other in London.

The job in Dub pays €2,000 extra, not to mention my purchasing power would be much higher in Dublin. The London job is a good job commenting on the currency markets, and of course life in London could be a hell of better.

Any opinions on what job I should take?
    Where is life better?

I think you should choose the one which makes you happy. For me, that would be the London based job.

If I had to choose myself I would go with the Dublin job as you gain more earning power but then again if you want to be happier OP go with the London job, you probably have a happier and better quality of life living in London! It be somewhere new and somewhere different! Away from all that is going on here, a fresh new start might be your ticket out of here! Best of Luck with your decision OP!

Dublin is in a unemployment blackspot with 13% out of work. This gives bosses enormous leverage to demand pretty much anything, more hours less holidays more work for less pay. Wages in Ireland are only going to go down in the next few years. Public sector employment is set to drop by 30,000 or so and the govt are expecting 100,000 to leave. Things are going to get worse before they stabilise.

London is relatively not bad at 7 or 8 % unemployment, depending on what you work at you will probably be treated with more respect and security than in Ireland. Downside is the Brits are in huge debt and there will be huge public sector spending cuts in the future as they try to get rid of their debt. This may have a depressing affect on wages and conditions as it gives the bosses more power.

It appears that, from a purely unemployment perspective, the Netherlands, with 4% unemployment would be the star choice for a job at the moment.
It all depends on where you will be happiest. If you have a lot of social an cultural ties to Ireland this may colour you decision.

London is an expensive city (Esp transport and housing). So you will have a lot less money in your pocket. I am very surprised your not getting offered more money over there. The only thing with London is you would have more opportunities and depending on the next few budgets here you could have less money here.
