    Hey guys,

Just wondering what your fashion views are on the leopard print fur coats and jackets that seem to be so cool at the moment?

I'm pretty tempted to take the plunge and buy one! Warehouse have one that has really caught my eye... but I'm in two minds, are they still seen as being the clobber of bette gilroy and ladies of the night?!! :D

Love to hear your opinions on all things leopard print!

I really like them, but am avoiding because I'm too old and too busty so Bet Gilroy fare it is for me. I do like them on some people tho, when everything else is dressed down. But everyone's going to be wearing them, so I wouldn't be too worried about looking like a brasser, more that you'd be one of the herd... Penneys had some, sold out from what I could see, so... often once somethings in Penneys the trend is all over everywhere.

I like them. I used to think they were super tacky but I'm drawn to them for some reason, have been for the past couple of years! I think they look great with jeans and biker boots.

I have my eye on one from New Look atm.

To be honest I think cheap and tacky when I see them but I'm probably bias because I know two people who have worn them for years and they are not nice people.

    Thanks guys for the input.

That's my fear, the cheap and tacky assocciation!!! I'm kind of hoping I'd be able to carry off the look without being seen as cheap and tacky, but again am not so sure :(

Like you phasers, for some reason I'm drawn to them. Esp the higher quality looking ones. I think you can tell the difference between a penney's style one and a better made one with better quality faux fur and a better cut.

Still not sure though. Don't wanna spent a lot of money for it to be sitting in the closet all winter!

Anyone think they look super stylish???

I'm just not sure that when every third person is wearing one that the quality will stand out in the crowd... the look phasers described it really how it works these days, changing it a bit. But if you love it, just get it and wear it with confidence and believe in the coat. Work it and you'll be fine :) I'd totally get one if I could pull it off.

I think they are lovely actually but if you wear them too often people will notice. I think they should be kept for special occassions, otherwise you can become 'the girl on the Luas with the leopard coat'.

    I like leopard!

But it has to be done carefully, it's much harder to pull off if you're blonde, can have horrible Bet Lynch connotations. I think a jacket not a coat is the key, I made this one:

I just couldn't pull it off with a dress, I'd feel too over the top. Legs out & leopard  I wear mine with my skinny jeans and ankle boots, god I hope I'm not the girl on the luas in the leopard jacket :D

I do love this one from awear even though it breaks every rule: blonde, coat & legs!

What's the one you want like OP? I say go for it! Better to regret the things you wore than the things you didn't!

Its all a matter of personal choice. Personally I despise all animal prints and think Coronation Street when I see anyone wearing any such print. My new house mate is animal print mad and my house now looks like she has been on safari and killed everything she saw. :(

My aunt gifted me with a great vintage one a couple of weeks ago - its brilliant cos its so warm unlike a lot of the really lightweight ones Ive seen in the shops lately. I'm thinking of putting it away though until theyre not in fashion any more - have seen so many of them in the shops so I don't feel unique wearing it.

I love that one in Awear! I just can't decide if I'd actually ever wear it or not, I'm in two minds! I do think wearing it with jeans and boots gives it a much nicer look, try a few on OP and see what you feel!

I like them on certain people but i prob wouldnt wear one myself cos it's a bit 'too much' leopard print for me if you get me? I'd prefer something like leopard print shoes or bag - there's a gorgeous bag in Next at the mo which has a small leopard print pattern - it's gorgeous! Also lovely leopard print shoes in Karen Millen but FAR too expensive:D

The leopard print coat in Warehouse is beautiful, and I don't think it could be described as tacky. There are leopard print faux fur coats that are tack-tastic - which I actually like! For example, the one in Awear and New Look and even in Topshop are tacky-cool, and need thought to be pulled off but the Warehouse one looks chic and elegant in my opinion. It's similar to a very expensive one by Sonia Rykiel.
There will always be people in Ireland who will snigger at someone's fashion choices but it wouldn't even stand out in somewhere like London. In fact, it's a bit annoying that they're all over the highstreet at the moment becuase I've always loved faux fur coats.
I actually think they look very London-cool. I'm a bit broke at the moment but I'm planning on getting a leopard print one in the sales. I love the ones in Warehouse, Topshop and Miss Selfridge.

    Hi guys,

Thanks so much for all your replies and views.
Leopard print sure seems to be a like it or loathe it subject!

I think I will bite the bullet and buy the Warehouse one. It's the one I like the most. Closely followed by the Miss Selfridge one. I most definately will NOT be wearing it with the mini skirt and heels!!!

I'd love to go the London vintage route, but sadly fund will not allow that right now

Chupi - I am well impressed... you made that jacket yourself? It's gorgeous! I love the slightly shorter sleeves and the collar.

As you guys have said, the trend seems to be all over the high street at the moment and people are seeing leopard print coats everywhere! However here in Galway City I've actually yet to see a girl wearing one!!! Maybe I am just frequenting the wrong establishments! Hope it stays that way though, I'd like to be the only one strutting round town in my faux fur leopard :D

I am obsessed with fur and animal print! I have leopard print coat and faux fur cheetah print.
I try to buy more expensive ones as super cheap aka penneys can look cheap and too many people buy them if they are cheap so looks common.

When I get paid, I'm definitely gonna buy one. Love 'em.
