I have an iphone 4 which will not allow me to turn on the show my caller id function.I have checked with vodafone and they say that my number is not private and should appear when I call another phone. I have updated the software and I have reset to factory settings but to no avail. Any ideas ?

What happens when you go into "Settings", then "Phone" and then "Show My Caller ID"? When you select this there should then be an option to move the slider between "Off" or "On".

As far as I'm aware the option to turn it on or off is set by the operator so the problem lies with Vodafone.

It's a combination of your handset and the account setting in the mobile operator, if your handset says don't send then it doesn't matter what the account setting in the operator says, it will not send the caller id.
