    Hi

We are looking for venues at the moment for our Wedding in winter 2011.
We have a a meeting booked with David the Wedding Co-ordinator in the Hertiage Golf & Spa Resort for 2 weeks time and I looking for a bit of info from anyone who has booked their wedding recently with them.

How open are they to haggling?
Do they give any reassurance about safety of deposits/ whether the hotel will be open in a years time, with the fact that the hotel is in receivership?

Any info that will help us is most grafeful :)
    thanks !

Lot of hotels in the same boat, but still ticking over.

Great spot for a wedding. One of my favorite places to play. Let us know how you get on.

Dont know this place, but if its in receivership that doesnt sound good at all. Receivership I think just gives a company time to pay as much debt back as possible and try to get a buyer but can definitely mean it closes down. I mean look at Budget Travel...they still exist, but its definitely not the same company it used to be!!! Might as well have called it a different name.

Do you really want to risk losing all your money when it closes down??

OP please disregard this. Its not ideal that the hotel would be in recievership but if you decided to have your wedding here your 110% protected and your deposit is NOT at risk.

KPMG / the reciever appointed by them have certain guidelines on operation to work by as the reciever. Any new creditor taken on since a company goes into recievership is a SECURE creditor.

If the hotel was to fold then your deposit is fully bonded and your gauranteed to get it back.

People get worried when they hear about recievers etc but dont fully understand how it works. Now if you paid a deposit before the hotel went into recievership then you would be unsecured and in a worrying position.

If you like the hotel and want to go with it there is no fear about your money.

Ok so the deposit might be protected. But do you really want to risk having it at a place that could be closed down by then?? It would involve having to book a new place and start the planning process over again.

I can imagine a nail biting time between now and the wedding hoping this place doesnt close down.

this is true. I think theres certain hotels in recievership that you can be pretty reliant on continuing to operate though. Places like Citywest, the Heritage etc day to day operate at a profit but their problem is the large burden of debt on them due to to external invesment situations that have gone sour on them.

What that is likely to mean is that somebody will enventually buy these hotels from the reciever with the banks having to take a hit on the outstanding debt as part of any takeover agreement.

Theres no sure thing when in recievership though I agree, but certain companies in recievership are unlikely to have issues Aer Arran is another non hotel example.

I just want the OP to have all the facts. Clearly there is some risk in that you could end up having to rebook a venue with little notice etc, but then again if its the venue for you thats what wedding insurance is for. Im not saying the OP should book but If they like the hotel they shouldnt dismiss it becasue its in recievership althought it should be a consideration.
