iPhone4 from the USA

    hi, im travelling to the USA tomorrow and i was thinking of getting an iPhone4 over there, does anyone know if it'll work back at home?

    It will work perfectly over here (you will need to unlock it though) since all iPhones sold worldwide use the same 3G frequencies, however I wonder what you will do with your AT&T contract as only they sell it over there?

    Also, I think you may need an American social security number to get it.

    Tac, if you do a search you'll see about 179 threads started on the same topic.

    short answer is you cant buy one without a 2 year AT&T contract and a social security number.

    And if you do manage to get one, it *will* be locked to AT&T (iPhones are not sold unlocked in US at all, even in an apple store) and most likely have a baseband that is not soft unlockable (yet).
