bar licensing query for family event

been looking into booking a venue for a family event coming up and it would require hiring caterers and someone to supply a bar. the venue has no bar licence so the norm is that a local publican would transfer their licence for the night and setup&supply the bar. we are looking at other options also and someone said that you dont need a bar licence if your not charging for drink? we could buy in our own drink and just hire a bar person for the night to serve out the drink...is this true?
I have no clue when it comes to these licensing laws so any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated..thanks!

if you're not selling drink then you don't need a licence, the caterers might be able to supply you a bar person if not drop me a pm and i say i could point you in the right direction

have not contacted any caterers yet but do you know what the going rate for a bar person for 1 night would be? we would probably need 2 staff to keep bar going and keep glasses collected, cleaned etc.. to ensure it all ran smoothly

you'll be looking at least €12/€13 an hour
