    hello everyone I have a quick question i hope you can clear up for me
    From what i have read and (think) i understand. If i buy a dvb-t tuner that can handle mpeg2 broadcasts will a piece of software allow me to view the mpeg4 rte broadcats??

    Only on a suitably powerful laptop / PC. Some are not able very well. Not on a TV or Setbox.
    Note that because Laptop screens are mostly 60Hz based, they give rubbish European video (SD or HD) compared to a 10 year old CRT.

    thanks for the quick reply. Im using a Pc so laptop screen issues shouldnt be a problem. When you say powerful machine what do you mean?? (Sorry if thats a stupid question)

    yes, screen just as much an issue on PC. Except with a few graphics cards ann HDMI to real HDTV screen.

    Europe is 25fps / 50 fields video, for SD or HD. A few graphics cards can be persuaded to do 50 fps progressive, but de-interlacing is often poor. A very few will do interlaced (25fps, 50 fields) on HDMI.

    Most are nothing like decent PAL spec for SD (576i).

    "power" of CPU required depends on Graphics cards, Codec version and if HD or SD.
    divX etc is no guide to H.264 performance.
