:( Went for a shot this morning, on land I have been shooting over for the last 17/20 yrs, its part of my gun club, all year controlling grey's/magpies, as I have done every year. Released about Fifteen full grown cock's myself a few weeks ago to supplement the wild bird's. When I got there a sign on the gate said " Land Preserved" No Shooting, no parking, Lands Poisoned:(, not there last week, after all my work.

Its already illegal - to be honest this landowner sounds like a t*t going on deerhunters post so its hard to see a good outcome in this case.

Never met him/her. I think the land may have changed hands sometime this year. I have put out the word too see who it is. I have a feeling I know who it is and if I'm right I may be fu--ed.:( Fingers x And no-one ever shoots this area but me, its not like it is being over shot, I have never met anyone ever shooting here, I just hope no-one abused him/her. I'm hoping the poison side of it is too frighten people off.

birdnuts are you for real do you honestly think advising someone to commit armed trespass is a sensible suggestion
he has said in his initial post the land has no shooting signs on it now and there you are egging him on worst case scenario he could find himself in court and in breach of his firearm licence and have it recinded
you can't call a landowners bluff as you call it ,if they say no shooting that's what they mean it's their land they have that right it's that attitude that gets all shooters a bad name, ah sure it'll be allright i'll just pop in for a few shots sure he wont know /mind/bother
give the poster some sensible advice like go and talk to the man explain what you have been doing all year your vermin control and release of birds show him your insurance and you very well may get a positive outcome to this

I take your point but the said same landowner is himself advertising the fact that he is breaking the law - in any case I've edited that post

Going on DH's post the "new" landowner is not a reasonable person so it looks like a hopeless situation:(

no all he has done is put a sign saying land poisoned that dosn't mean he has actually poison laid now does it he could have sprayed the land with roundup after all that is a poison to grass etc

Well he can explain what he means to the local ranger/gardai/teagasc inspector - but I somehow doubt he's refering to roundup given what rules applied under the old laws which I'm sure your familiar with up around Kells:cool:

No - when I'm not hunting, fishing or enjoying the countryside in general, I work as an environmental scientist, but then again what would I know about such issues:rolleyes:

PS: I'm also into Irelands ancient past which means I know about all those special places in that part of the Royal County;)
