Grant question

I've been awarded a grant by county council. However, I haven't received any information about how I'll be paid this money and how often. I rang the county council a few times but they said each time that they'll send all relevant information out to me. This was two weeks ago and I still havent heard from them. DCU registry emailed me yesterday to say a cheque has arrived there for me. Does this cheque cover my registration fee (which I paid for in September) ? Or is it a kind of installment?

Any help appreciated as I'm very confused and annoyed with the council atm!!

I think all the county councils do pretty much the same thing for the grants.

They'll send out 3 cheques (to DCU), one around now, one after christmas and another around easter. So you just go to the registry and collect them. DCU will bill the county council for your registry fees and anything else so you dont have to worry about that.

If you had to pay any money towards registration or anything like that before you got your grant approval then the registry should automatically post a cheque to you as a refund when they get the money from the county council (although they havent done this for me yet).

Thats the system for Kildare County Council anyway, it may be different for you but probably not. Best thing to do is ask the registry people when you're on collecting the cheque.

Sorry to hijack but Dinner I'm assuming you've applied through Kildare County Council then? When did you hear from them? I had to apply near the end of August but I thought I'd have heard something by now.

Sound about right for my county council too. One question though, do DCU always email when there is a cheque in for you or does it have to be there ages before they do that or something?

Yeah it was through the council.
I applied about end of July or so and got an acceptence letter from them around the end of August I think.

Best thing to do is send them an email or ring. They are usually really helpful anytime I've had to deal with them.

Yeah I rang them a few weeks ago and they said they were only about a third of the way through them. Will give them another ring tomorrow so.

Nope they don't email you at all! The registry puts up a list of which county councils they have the cheques for and you ask for it then, you just need to keep checking until yours is there!
