DVD drive broke

Ok so I bought my laptop in Curry's in England a year and 9 months ago, a few months ago I bought a Blu-Ray disk which it says is supported on the disk drive and the lens is there. It wouldn't work and since then whenever I put a disk in the drive it makes a loud reading noise for about 2 minutes and doesn't read any disks. This also sometimes stops the computer from working until it stops.

While it was an inconvenience I very rarely use my disk drive so I left it, but now I want to install a game on it and want to add CDs to my library. Is there anything that people can recommend doing or is it messed up beyond repair, I'll probably bring it somewhere official on Monday but if there's something that can be done before that it'd be great

Try a dvd lens cleaning kit, 2 euro in 2euro shop, maybe 8euro in tv shop, powercity might have them.USE , THE kit ,open disk tray, leave 20 mins to dry out the lens, try playing a cd or dvd rom disk.you only need to use a tiny amount of cleaning fluid on the cleaning disc.

would a dirty lens have that much effect?

If you can see the lens theres no point getting a cleaning kit... just clean it directly

Not going to recommend how but usually a cd cleaner just dusts off the lens

An external usb drive would probably be the easiest solution if the drive is no good

i ve seen it working on a pc, 2 euros is not much of a risk, at SOME point you,ll need to clean a dvd player ,pc or stereo cd player.the liquid used is designed to evaporate, without causing short circuits on pcs or stereos.
