Just noticed that Finnegans Bray to Sandyford bus has been stopping at Cherrywood Luas (Brides Glen stop) since 1 November. See http://www.finnegan-bray.ie/page11.php .

I have no connection with Finnegans - just posting in case it's useful information for people living in Bray / Shankill / Loughlinstown (e.g. as an alternative to the 84 which only runs once an hour).

    journeyman.

Mr Finnegan might well have struck gold here if he puts a bit of bottle into it....:)

still the same prob as the 7 and 84 though, not really near the stop...
even cars can't get up near the stop, the road is still fenced off at the end of the ind est. I wonder will it ever get sorted out. I certainly don't see the owners letting all these buses up through the estate direct to the station anytime soon as no proper stops and turniing facilities

    Bang-On there Cookie.

No doubt there are "Taking-in-Charge" issues with the Local Authority dominated as usual here by Public Liability concerns.

Modern Ireland has become a place totally hamstrung by this fixation over "Liability" and the fear of Litigation.

This usually entails,as is evidenced here, that new and potentially highly attractive Public Service options are endlessly delayed until they become of little use to anybody.

One can be confident that if the Luas Cherrywood extention was on mainland Europe, even the most Eastern regions of it,our buses would be door-to-door with the Trams.

The issue of a Bus Stance and Turning Bay would not have arisen as it would have been Item 1 on the design brief...instead it was probably raised as an afterthought at the final sign-off meeting..."Eh Boss, warrabout the buzzez, where`ll we stick them ?"......."Ah gowayourradah will ye,they`re not our problem"

Sadly we are a nation overseen by administrative pygmies who see nothing wrong with asking people to walk several hundred metres along side derelection.

These same well paid and hugely self-confident pygmies then scratch their heads in wonderment at the reluctance of the Irish commuter to leave their car behind....

You wouldnt have seen a job done to this poor standard during the Boom period. Its like a scene from the Mad max movies up there!

Anyway back to the topic........ Does Mortons still run a shuttle bus from Shankill upto there?

If there are access issues in the Industrial Estate, perhaps a pragmatic solution would be for the buses to drop off at the Cherrywood stop (i.e. the other side of the link road to the the Brides Glen stop) ?

However, agreed that it is very disappointing that there aren't more buses (e.g. there really should be a very regular bray to cherrywood bus (every 15 mins perhaps)), and that there isn't a proper bus <-> luas interchange station at Cherrywood. Think it's symptomatic of having siloed transport authorities (e.g. no effective equivalent of "Transport for London").

There is another entry point to the Brides Glen stop. At the roundabout at the BS Pk continue straight towards M50, there is a left turn that needs a bit of work, this will bring you right to the stop!

no, that turn does not exist yet at all aside from the bit right at the m50 slip road. neither does the rectangle of road shown, from coviden to your drawn lines does not exist as a road.

you can actually drive right up to the end of the station now, though its mostly cordoned off with security guard to make sure you don't park there, only stop to pick up

Sorry to drag up an old thread but,

Getting the 84 to Cherrywood, how far of a walk is it to the Luas stop, how long would it take from bus stop to platform and where is the stop?

    400-500 metres or so.

at the stop there is a gap and path in the hedge, go through and walk past the building on your right, turn right after it at end of road and walk up towards spar on your left. turn left at spar and follow this path all the way up, it turns right after another building (friends first). once past this right turn its just straight up to stop
