Just wondering if anyone uses an external drive on apple tv (version 1)?

Have a hacked one but I can't seem to get it to recognise an external. I'm using xbmc on it. Also if you do use one is it an either/or situation or are both drives accessibleat the same time?

I have mine cracked with Atv flash with an external harddrive. I use the Nito tv menu to access the content on it. Never got in to the boxee and xbmc. You can use either hard drives. Although to store content other than iTunes on Atv hard drive you need to FTP it. I think!

Thanks for that big gig. I tried using nito & it told me I had to install something (it's hacked with atv also), but I son't know what it is or where to get it.

Can you cataloge both drives, so that they're both in use, or do you have to switch between them ?

I access stuff that I've purchased in iTunes by the normal means and all the other content (ripped DVDs etc) through nito.there is an option within the settings to change your destination of purchased items to the external drive. The Atv flash online tutorial is really good. Have a look at it if you haven't already.
