    Howiya everyone,

Odd kind of problem here. I've met a girl I fancy in my sports club in college but I'm a bit unsure about how to go about asking her out without it being a bit weird because I don't knwo her that well. Nobody in college really seems to do the asking out on dates thing, it's more drunken hook ups so I don't really know how to go about it. I'm thinking of just chatting to her after training one night maybe and asking does she want to get a coffee or something during the week but I'm afraid it wil come out sounding weird?? Any advice please ? :) I'm fed up of pubs and clubs so I'd like to try to get this right...

    Aww..
Well she won't find it weird.
Do you know any others in the club? You could always suggest that a group of you go to the student bar (or somewhere else if there isn't one) for drink or some food after something. That's if you're uncomfortable asking her out one-to-one.
From there you can chat to her, maybe get a number and take things from there....

On the other hand, like you said, you could just ask her for coffee. I'm sure she wouldn't bat an eyelid at an offer like that. People it all the time in college.
When I was in first year (i'm in second now) I met my (ex) bf on the third day of lectures. I'm in a large course but we just got chatting in one of the lectures, he asked if I was free after. We got coffee and that was that...
Even if I didn't fancy him, I wouldn't have turned him down for a coffee anyway. It's a casual thing and a good opportunity to figure out if she likes you back while still keeping your cool. ha
Just suck it up and go for it, the worst she can is say no.

Go right up to and ask her why a bad girl like her is doing in a nice place like this. She's sure to laugh but will give you a cheeky answer back like all girls do so just be cheeky right back at her. If she has a strand of loose hair, push it back over her ear for her. Hand her your phone and tell her to put her number on it and tell her you are going to see a movie and she should tag along but if she doesn't want to go, joke that you can see it without her. Treat them mean and keep them keen.:)

The coffee thing sounds good to me OP. I'm not sure I'd go along with Silkworm's suggestions! Stay calm and focus on sounding calm and relaxed and informal when you say it. Few people would say no to coffee. You can then take it from there if you both get on well. In the unlikely event she does say no, its not exactly going to kill you and any embarrassment will be very minor and over quickly. But going for coffee hits exactly the right spot so I'm sure it'll work out.

The OP should only ask her to go for a coffee if there is a cafe within walking distance where he could suggest they both go to continue talking if he has started a conversation. If he wimps out by asks her to go for a coffee 'sometime' before he knows for sure if she will come, she might just put a fake number in his phone or she might say she's flattered and lie about having a boyfriend. Girls do that stuff all the time because it's less trouble than saying no and hurting a guy's feelings.
If she types her 'number' into his phone, he should ring it front of her so that her phone will ring or not. If she is caught out and her phone hasn't rung, she'll have no option but to put her real number in the phone or else quit the pretence of being nice.
She might actually have a boyfriend but it might be nothing serious (a guy she meets for coffee maybe?) but if she has any doubts at all she'll just blow him off.
The OP has to give her a better reason than just to go for a coffee. Particularly if she is a hot girl and she has guys asking her out for coffee every day of the week.
