    Hi,
AMF are looking for a drummer. We're based in Sandyford, Dublin, and are a melodic prog/metal band - majorly influenced by Dreamtheater. Check out www.breakingtunes.com/amodernfate and get in touch if you are interested in our sound! We're definately not heavy metal btw!!
    Thanks.
    Carol - AMF

    Hi!

Just a suggestion, I listened to your stuff and the genre label of "progressive" / "metal" is very misleading. You are not progressive or anything amongst that line. Everything is simple chord progressions and 4/4 time signatures. The only "prog" thing about your stuff is that some songs are quite long...a bit too long IMO, but to each their own! As much as you might want to be labelled prog for whatever reason (Ive no idea...maybe its for some sense of ego or something) your stuff is nothing of the sort, no matter who your influences are. You cant deny the band sound that you have/are. (IMO, your sound is more heavy rock / alternative)

I know this may come across as harsh, I don't intend for this to come across as so. Your tunes are decent enough and I just think that maybe you will have more luck finding someone with a more accurate thread name.
The word genre "prog/metal" to many means crazy time signatures, and very technical stuff which your stuff isn't really of that nature. Again, not a knock to you at all....sure most of the best songs are simple songs ..."All Along the Watchtower" is based on a 3 chord motif!!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_metal
maybe reading this will give you a better genre to properly label your stuff and hence you can find a suitable drummer! :)

Anyways, best of luck with your search! :D

I'm not looking for YOUR opinion, I'm actually LOOKING FOR A DRUMMER, and want to be very clear about the style of music we like and the direction we want to go in.
I'm not going to justify myself any further to some unemployed Southside super-nerd who has to make himself feel of some worth by randomly forcing arrogant opinions on people, where they're not wanted.
GET A LIFE!! and do not contact me again.:D

Greeneydmonster banned for a week. Unwarranted abuse of other posters is not tolerated on here especially when all they have done is offer constructive criticism.

    Hi Greeneydmonster,

First of all, I re-read my original post and I do apologise if it came across as preachy. Not my intention at all.
I came across the ad as I have a student at the moment who has expressed interest in developing his odd time signature skills and I suggested joining a progressive band or a jazz/ jazz-fusion band, and I was sussing it out for him.
Anyways, I do stand by my point and although you are right, that my previous post is my opinion, it is also an opinion shared by many others (google the term progressive metal and see what many others think.) I reckon that if you repost the advert with a broader genre specification (say rock, heavy rock, alternative) you will get a lot more interest! :)

Anyways, this is all I will say on the matter as you have expressed yourself quite...."colourfully" already. Best of luck with the search, and again I do like your music regardless of your feelings towards me. :D

    Hey!

Firstly, just wanna say as the guitarist in this band, i wanna make a few points and maybe smooth things over. Unfortunately things got a little heated but as far as the ad goes here is some clearer info. Currently our online demos are made up of recordings made some time ago. Knowing this, i understand that they aren't progressive metal but we never claimed to be.
Yes, progressive metal is an influence of ours but we want to go in a progessive/ metal direction not necessarily prog metal (the / is imortant)! Obviously the stuff still isn't very prog or metal but that is what we've done, not where we plan to go in the future; we took the first steps when we lost our 2nd guitarist, allowing us to go in a different direction to what we had been (but a direction we're happier with) and hopefully any new drummer will allow that trend to continue. Unfortunately, i think wires got crossed but now we all know where we stand , i hope there are no hard feelings!

PS I'd still love to see you at the gig on the 11th Ohle!:D

You can start by making sure your drummer understands constructive criticism and doesn't throw insults around when it's offered.
