    Hi

I remember reading a few months ago about the introduction of a contract with a private company to provide nationwide mobile speed traps. At the time it was estimated that the roll out date would be October.

Since then I havent heard a lot on the topic. Anyone know when this money making scheme will be rolled out?

    Cheers

    K

According to the Gardaí, these guys will be paid a flat rate for hours worked. They didn't say what margin for error they'd allow though.

are they trialling the units or actually catching speeding drivers?

I've met two one orange/yellowish and one white both KK Regs, a frind of mine say he saw a blue one thinks it had a KY reg.

An active GPS web site must be set up to point out the notorious location where these guys hang out.

Far be it from me to defend our "police force :)" but I recall an interview on TV with a senior Garda. In it he said, the vans would only be deployed at blackspots (subjective, I know), their location would be published on the Garda website and they would be easily identifiable. Is this not the case?
I would expect them all to be 10 reg with the same county I.D., perhaps an 08 was a trial vehicle.

So if you see any vehicle with a pre '08 reg, we're fine? :)

So middle of the month is the 15th then? Why can they not give an exact date?

Like engaging in abusive behaviour / behaviour likely to lead to a breach of the peace?
