Blueface with Gigaset C685...

    Hello all,

I'm considering ditching the Perlico land and using VOIP instead. The plan is
to sign-up with Blueface and buy a Siemens C685. My only concern is whether
my broadband (fixed wireless) is up to scratch.

I've done some tests on http://myspeed.visualware.com/indexvoip.php and pingtest.net and my packet loss is generally 0-1% and jitter around 5-10ms. On
    pingtest.net I usually get at least a B rating and sometimes A.

Just wondering what (MOS) ratings other happy users are getting? I'm just a bit wary I suppose. I think I'll try a s/w phone and see how it goes.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Noel.

OK, I bought some Blueface credit and did some test calls using Zoiper. What I found was that there was a bit of a delay on the line and there was a humming/buzzing in the background. Is this to be expected when using the laptop's built-in microphone and speakers? Could I expect to hear a big improvement in sound quality if I bought a dedicated handset like the Gigaset?

You'll always get a much better audio quality with a proper handset compared to a softphone on your computer.

The jitter and packet loss values you mentioned should allow you getting a good audio.
