Hi All I was wondering if you could give me your opinion, I have an good size kitchen and sitting room and my hall is pretty big too,, I was thinking about making all open plan. we have 3 young children & i think it would be handier and more spacious.. but my partner says it wouldnt be a good idea. any thoughts on that?

Hi open plan is very good with small kids makes it easier to keep an eye on them. However if you have only one sitting room it will mean you have no where to escape to if you have guests ect. If this is the case you could just make a large opening between kitchen and living room and put in double doors when you want a bit of privacy/peace. As for opening up the hall I am not sure, do you have a porch? Because if not every time your front or back door is opened you will lose lots of heat. We have recently added a porch to our house and since then I do think the front hall is really a waste of space!

Open plan is a brilliant idea and naturally makes for a more relaxed and spacious enviroment.Recently did it myself in my own house.

But having/keeping a room dedicated as a kids toy/play room can be just as good too,as it gives the kids a room to play in with their toys and keeps them happy too.Its gives the kids "their own" space too.;)
