I wonder did anybody else apply for these jobs a couple of months ago, they made a big deal about it at the time.
I filled in the application as requested and sent it off
I have heard nothing since .I have heard that all these jobs are filled about 10 years ago by retired civil servents and it is only a PR stunt for the minister in question.
Just wondering did anybody else apply or heard any more

I was thinking along those lines myself. It said the job would be done from home. Could current civil servants also be double jobbing?

I was wondering too about those jobs for the general elections, are they also a stitch up?

currrent cvil servants can't apply nor can people who left under the last retirement scheme but for those who had done this work before I would imagine there home safe and sound even if they are on big public sector pensions which seems unfair considering the present climate

In the past I have known people who did these jobs and they had never been public servants, many retired people do apply but that is because in the past they were more readily available and had in general due to age a better knowledge of the localities they were in charge of.

And members of the local Fianna Fail Cumann know doubt !

You're being far too sceptical here folks, these jobs haven't been filled yet to the best of my knowledge, the senior people only took up their positions early to mid October and they had to be trained in before completing the selection process for these 440 jobs, interviews/selection should take place through November/early December.

Of course people who did the job successfully before will be in prime position, why wouldn't they be, they can be relied on to deliver again. But I reckon there will still be a reasonably significant number of real vacancies, over 200 maybe, so don't despair yet. Of course your location may tell against you if there are no local vacancies.

I'd be very surprised if any applicant were publicising their membership of the local FF cumann and it's doubtful if it would be helpful in the current climate.

People are now being called for interview, letters have been/are being issued, not sure if they will be sending 'Dear John' letters to the unsuccessful applicants. Good luck to those of you who have applied.

    Hi all
this is my first time to use this site,

have been reading posts re field supervisors positions for the up coming census 2011

I have no attachment to any political party or have not worked in any government job I have been unemployed a few months now.

I like many applied for the position of field Supervisor the interviews have taken place I had an interview on November 18th it was a 45 to 50 minute interview that was very formal.applicants had to bring passport, drivers licence and have your photo taken at the interview, also garda vetting form had to be filled in by all who were called to interview. I did ask when would we be informed regarding the position if successfull or not I was told Mid December as the positions are to be filled on Jan 10th 2011

I have heard nothing since the interview
