laptop stops responding!

I don't know if this is the right place to post this thread but im desperate for help with this! As of yesterday my laptop has started to freeze when i use windows media player. It doesn't respond again so im force to plug it out to turn it back on, then when i turn it back on it does a check disc and starts as normal but it will freeze again when i use windows media player! Anyone got any idea what the problem might be and how i fix this?
