Buying an Ipad as a christmas present for the other half.

Other than the apple store who are the stockists? Where would people recommend to buy?
Is there a place where i can order or put one by now and pay off weekly, and collect it christmas week?

Which ipad would people recommend? If i get the one with 3gs do i have to sign up to a plan there and then, can i get one with 3gs access and let the girlfriend sort the 3gs on it when she gets it?!

    Any or all help appreciated.

I bought the 32gig Wifi model in PC World in the square Tallaght on Wednesday night.
Not sure about payment options with them though. I used a credit card to pay.
You might be able to use wifi tethering in conjunction with your mobile phone rather than setting up a 3G data account, but of course it depends on what network she is with as pricing can be expensive for wifi tethering.

It all depends on what you want to do with it.

This morning I was looking at the 64Gb model with 3G and I was wondering if I really need it. As in, I won't be out and about with it, so I can't really see the need for me to get one with 3G.

Bought a 32 gig with 3g. Use it on the train for work.
Then switch to wifi in work and at home

I find the main advantage of 3G is if travelling for holidays or work. It's handy having the 3G while waiting at the airport or surfing while away.
Vodafone have affordable roaming plans and there are prepay options. You don't need to sign up to any contract if you go for the 3G one.

Hey, I'm in the same boat, kind of.
I'm also looking to buy an ipad for my gf,
I have presently got a sum of money in my pay-pal acc.
So i'm looking for the best place to buy online where pay-pal is accepted.
I have no problems with eBay but has any one here got one from an ebay seller, if so any recommendations of some secure sellers?

    Thanks Guys

    Andy..

Dunno about the credit. Yes you can use pay as you go. I use both payg and bill pay in mine.

I wouldn't bother with the 64gb to be honest - got one myself and it's never even close to full. It's great to have your whole music collection, but 64gb isn't enough for a big movie collection, and you'll never have enough time to watch 16 of them or something. Also, unlike music, you don't watch the same films/tv shows on long journeys over an over again. Much better off getting the a lower end model and syncing is my experience :)

I'd buy it direct from Apple online through http://store.apple.com/ie -- it's really the most convenient way to go, and they even take LASER (something that cannot be said for all online shops) if you don't happen to have a credit card.

I have the 16 GB iPad and find it more than enough, although I don't use it as a music player: that's what I use my iPhone for.
