    Folks

I am after some of this stuff -
    http://www.tslotparts.com
    http://www.smt-montagetechnik.de/produkte/k-08.htm

I think it's called 8020 T Slot Aluminium Extrusion. I basically want to build an adjustable frame for a gaming simulator / seat along the lines of this
    4322700951_7febdc4111_b.jpg

I cannot seem to source this or similar in Ireland. Ideally I would like to get my hands on second hand material or as cheap as possible. I have scoured Google and Ebay but it all seems to come from the USA which means taxes and huge shipping costs.

Can anyone suggest a source for this type of stuff, or even a suitable alternative for the job? (I do not want to weld nor make the $frame from wood)

Hope this is posted i the right forum

    Many thanks

Get on to a crowd called Production Equipment in Galway.
The supply modular assembly bench systems, made up of similar aluminium profile. Dont have number to hand.

Misumi sell it in custom lengths. You can order all the fasteners, corner pieces, legs, linkages etc etc.

I think you are talking about IO Systems?
They are the Irish distributors for Robotunits.
    www.iosystems.ie
    www.robotunits.com

You can figure out all the bits you need from the robotunits site & order it from IO Systems. They can supply it all cut to length & you just bolt it together. Great system to work with.

    Disclosure: Ex-Employee of IO Systems.

    Yeah thanks for this toxof,
I think it would be so much better to go to a bricks and mortar place to buy what I am looking for because I need to see what they have. I'm not overly sure what exactly I need in terms of lengths, connectors, brackets etc.

It's very hard to marry my requirements with a vague build idea online.

Also, I'm wondering if this stuff is ever available second hand anywhere? I'm sure it's bloody expensive new.

Not sure many places will let you look through their stock to be honest (insurance etc.)

    They would either:
    1. Design up a similar rig for you (& possibly charge handsomely for it)
    2. Supply the parts based on a design you give them

I suggest option 2 if you are on a budget. An unemployed recent mechanical engineering graduate would eat up a project like this (and should charge a reasonable price). There should be enough info available online for them to design a rig similar to the one you posted.

It can be pricey alright. The extrusions themselves aren't too bad but the connectors quickly add up. The R&K site has CAD models you can download and assemble yourself. Of course you need to know how use use CAD...

Have you tried looking at something like this?

    http://www.hilti.ie/holie/page/module/product/prca_catnavigation.jsf?lang=en&nodeId=-88444

The MM system looks like it might do the job for you. Plenty of different brackets and connectors available.

KJN Aluminium make their own (in partnership with an extrusion company)

    at
    http://www.aluminium-profile.co.uk/

These have been the cheapest I've found.. but I haven't checked some of the links above. Cheaper than Misumi.

    Defo worth checking out.

(some prices from KJN, in GBP, per meter length.. probably very messy, but one extrusion per line)

    20x20 GBP 2.9
    40x40 GBP 7.99
    40x80 GBP 15.9
    30x30 GBP 5.9
    30x60 GBP 11.9

    45x45 GBP 8.49
    45x45 heavy GBP 12
    45x90 GBP 16.9
    45x90 heavy GBP 23
    90x90 GBP 37
    60x60 GBP 19.02

Hi Forgot to mention that Im tied in with kjn but am based in Ireland.
Can quote you in euros and arrange shipment.
If you want us to do a flat pack i.e send us a drawing, even a sketch and we'll cut everything to length and give you all the fittings to assemble or we can supply it fully assembled.
I know a guy who built something similar for a play station.
    Hope this helps.
