Does anyone know how to set up port forwarding on a vodafone router (white, wireless)? The model is a HG556a and its made by HUAWEI i think.

There is an option for FTP but nothing that says port forwarding. There is also NAT - port redirection and DMZ . Those 3 seem to do similar jobs as port forwarding.

    Can anyone assist me please?

As you have replied to this thread, I will presume that you have the same router as I mentioned in the first post. To port forward with that router, login to the control panel, go to advanced setup -> NAT -> Virtual Servers, then click add.

Save the port forward and it should look like this:

The ip address you need to put in is the local ipv4 address for the machine you want to port forward. If the port is opened on your router, then maybe a firewall is blocking the port. Try opening the port in the firewall or disable the firewall completely (not recommended) to get it to work.

    Hi Guys,
I have a similar problem with a Huawei HG556a. Setting up an IP Camera on Port 81
I have set it up in NAT-Virtual Servers Setup but checking, the port is not open.
You mention there may be a problem with the Firewall.
My OS is Windows 7 and AntiVirus is Norton Security which has a firewall.
and I also suspect the the Huawei HG556a has one as well.
Can you suggest a way to systematically troubleshoot this problem whilst not
    leaving me open to attack.
I have only a basic understanding of Firewalls
    Thank you for you interest.
