Does anyone know of a good board game which is similar to Monopoly but involves some skill and decision making rather than luck as in Monopoly?

    Thanks in advance.

Brass comes highly recommended though I haven't actually played it myself.

Acquire seems to be the most common suggestion as a more tactical monopoly.

Puerto Rico is a great game IMO and has a lot of decision making.

For a classical fun, try Talisman. Nice stepping stone between absolutely random games and games where everything is hinged on your skills.

Games like Puerto Rico or Race for the galaxy might be rather complex for someone jumping straight from Monopoly, but hey, it's a challenge :D Sheer panic is surprisingly non-trivial, compared to its childish (sheepish?) style. Last but not least: Carcassonne, especially Hunters & Gatherers edition is easy to learn and fun to play.

Caylus is awesome - all pure tactics, no dice so the random luck element is totally out, it is totally how you play that determines the outcome.

Does anyone know of a eco / ethical board game for older children? All of the ones I've found online are aimed at younger children.
