Go to websites like http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/ and read their reviews of mobile phones, in each case they highlight strengths and weaknesses of the OS. Like you I am sick of Nokia and the Ovi so-called 'store', I paid almost 300 euros earlier this year for a Nokia E55 and will definitely never buy another Nokia. For what it's worth, last time I checked CNET gave the following as their top three mobile phones...

    1. HTC Desire (Android), and this is the 'old' Desire, they say the HD is even better!
    2. iPhone4
    3. Samsung Galaxy S (Android)

I think the big plus in the iPhone's favour at the moment is that there are currently more apps available for the iPhone than for the Android but that will probably balance out over time given that Android is making big gains these days. I own an iTouch so am well familiar with the apps available for the iPhone but if money was no object I'd go out tomorrow and buy a HTC Desire HD.

i dont know now what to go for:confused: i have around 550 or 600 at the very most the desire hd is 489 i think.i like the fact that i can get good speakers for the i phone a friend has the i pod touch and has a great Philips speaker system for it and it sounds great.if i do go for the i phone it will be good bye to my large stereo in sitting room.i dont want do to pay 600 for a phone just because its says apple on the back but i dont mind paying 600 for a very good phone the branding is not that important to me,if you know what i mean.i have watched reviews on youtube but i think a lot of these company's get a little something for giving the phones a good review???
