    Hey folks,
I'm currently trawling for music schools in Ireland, and here's one I'm liking so far. Is anyone here a student?
    Thoughts or experiences gratefully received.

Do you mean music school as in instrumental lessons? Or the degree at WIT?

There is a music school for private lessons and the level 8 degree.
The degree is good. The staff are what make it for me, they are second to none with many of them professional musicologists/performers on top of their day jobs. If you are a classical musician then you're sorted. Trad is done well too with some of the Jazz/Pop lecturers a bit 'airy-fairy' IMO. The staff are great, the facilities are unfortunately merely adequate as WIT wouldn't highly regard the degree themselves. But I find it great with lots of opportunities and enjoy it despite the admin headaches of WIT itself! Covers all aspects: composition, performing, ensembles, music history, etc.

That's fantastic, thanks for the reply, just what I was looking for. Can I ask what made you pick WIT over other colleges, if you auditioned elsewhere?

Em to be honest I picked WIT because I had studied piano there while in secondary school and could continue with my teacher there. The performance side really drew me in as I had auditioned in UCC but it was much more written based compared to WIT. I have heard good and bad things about CIT Cork School of Music. The facilities are fantastic and the instrumental teachers are good but I heard that they don't do alot of history/academic work which is important! (in moderation). Thats only what i've heard thought so don't base your decision on it!
WIT works for me, and people graduating seen to do well!

Best of luck in whatever you do! :)
