No work experience?

Got no work experience for my cv. I've been handing one into shops and that with nothing about work experience on it? Bad idea?

How am I meant to get experience when I can't get a job? Everyone working I know, most of them get it through knowing people. I don't know anybody that has connections into a job I would do. Just want to get some hours in shops or that?

Are my chances zero with experience and also what can I write down instead of this, housework, farm work maybe? Although I don't do a huge amount of either.

Volunteer. Do some volunteer work with a charity or maybe local non-profit group.

Well I'll probably be slaughtered for saying this but just put down on your CV that you've already worked in a shop during some summer and you can use somebody you know as a reference -

    I agree

Sadly in this world honest people get walked all over. Your going to have to beef it up with experience and make up written references in this climate its not that hard to do. Every shop has its own system and ways of doing things and it will take you 2 weeks to cop on with or without experience. The only thing I will say is register your own tax number now because when your new employer has to do it they`ll know you never worked before. You could lie again and say you were being payed cash and never paid tax in your last job but doing this will save you the effort.

hopefully you will get something, i no how do they expect people to get experience if they cant get a job, it is very frustrating, a lot of places should be looking for xmas staff, maybe argos so mite be worth ur while trying those kinda places :)

I don't know anybody that has connections into a job I would do.

assuming you meant "would" instead of "could" then perhaps you should re-consider what jobs you WOULD do.

have you actually asked any of these people if they have work for you?

I know what pride can be like.. in that some people would rather work for strangers for free than ask relatives/friends/fre-enemies for work.

maybe its time to swallow the pride?

ya eventually you will do anything just to have a bit of cash and actually have some bit of a life instead of constantly worry about money
