Expectation too high?

Do we expect too much from the gardai? Are they ordinary men and women doing a sometimes horrible job for which some of them are most unsuitable,or do they have the correct level of training that allows them to deal with a provocative situation in a calm, collected manner?I do not refer solely to the events on Wednesday but there are instances where in a court of law, their evidence is not accepted by judge and/or jury.If they lie in order to get a conviction against an innocent person, should they at least lose their job?
